Espíritos livres

ESPÍRITOS LIVRES (Free spirits) is an artistic intervention project developed with people in Guarda Prison, combining theatre, music, dance and performance.

Through a weekly creative programme, the participants were challenged to become co-creators and performers of the piece Para que lado fica o amanhã? (Which way is tomorrow?), presented in July 2022 at the prison and at the Teatro Municipal da Guarda, open to the wider community.

The whole process was filmed and became the documentary muro é um muro é um muro é um muro (wall is a wall is a wall is a wall) by Tiago Moura. Instituto Piaget in Viseu monitored the project and evaluated its impact on the participants’ social reintegration. The project closed with the conference ‘Desenlear Pensamento’ (Untangling thought), organised with Guarda Prison.
