Onde as oliveiras crescem os homens não morrem bears witness to a story of the belief that art can play an active role in society. That is the story we found in four villages in inland Portugal – Barbaído, Chão da Vã, Freixial do Campo and Juncal do Campo – where there is a project to develop the villages through artistic practice: Há festa no campo/Aldeias artísticas.

In this way it documents the development of the project, giving form to a community experience and making it possible to replicate it in other places.
