Darling Desperados was founded by Ulrika Malmgren and Katta Pålsson.
They met at Malmö Theatre Academy, where they were in the same class from 1984 to 1987.
Award-winning performances and pioneering artistic work have made the name synonymous with an avant-garde art form that constantly seeks out collaborations with new techniques, strong stories, innovative staging and cutting-edge artists, and that also offers a space for residencies and artistic research in dialogue with audiences. The company has staged, directed and performed more than 50 original works and 15 short films, and has toured internationally.
Its first production was a film based on a play about Marilyn Monroe’s last 30 seconds, before the moment of her death.
The decision that Darling Desperados should contain everything they wanted – films, theatre, music, performance, exhibitions … – turned it into their playground and their workplace for more than 25 years.
