He was born in Braga in 1974, where he completed Prof. Ana Paula Carreira’s piano course in 2000. In 2004 he obtained a degree in Composition by ESMAE-IPP (Porto), where he studied with Professors Virgílio Melo, Cândido Lima, Filipe Pires and Carlos Guedes. In 2009 he obtained his Master’s Degree in Multimedia from Porto Engineering School, where he currently attends the doctoral programme in Digital Media UT Austin/Portugal where he researches automatic music generation. He is a researcher in the Sound and Music Computing (SMC) group of INESC-TEC Porto from 2010. He has published scientific papers at InForum Coimbra 2011, SigGraph Asia 2012 (Singapore), CMMR 2012 (London), SMC 2013 (Stockholm), SMC/ICMC 2014 (Atenas). He was part of the GimmeDaBlues application development team, winner of ZON Multimedia 1st Prize in the “Applications and Multimedia Content” category.
Has been a professor since 2005 and coordinator since 2007 in the Electronic Music and Musical Production course of the Escola de Artes Aplicadas of the Instituto Politécnico de Castelo Branco (ESART-IPCB) and professor in the Composition degree at ESMAE-P.Porto.
He regularly presents artistic work as composer, performer and programmer, mainly in electro-acoustic music, improvisation and creation of musical systems and interactive multimedia. Among the various events and concerts he has participated in are the Música Viva Festival (Lisbon), “Synthèse” Festival (Bourges, France), Dias de Música Electroacústica, Unicer Laboratório Criativo, Tom de Vídeo Festival (Tondela), Future Places Festival (Porto), Guimarães 2012 capital europeia da cultura, Manobras in Porto, Suoni Inauditi (Livorno, Italy), Sonoscopia (Porto), Janeiro dos Grandes Espetáculos (Recife, Brasil), Serralves em Festa (Porto), Noite Branca (Braga), CARA Ano Zero (Matosinhos); Festival Semibreve (Braga), Phonambient Braga (GNRation), Som Riscado (Loulé).
