Bruno Santos was born in 1980. Light Designer, Technical Director at Teatro Sá da Bandeira, Co-Founder of the Aqui Há Gato Children’s Theatre Company, graduated from Escola Superior de Santarém (2000-2004) as Musical Education Professor, attended the Hot Clube de Portugal Jazz School from 2002 to 2004. Attended lighting workshops such as Gottelier Masterclasses (London), Next 50 years of lighting design, Lighting for Performances with Orlando Worm, Stage technician with Hernâni Saúde and Aida Tavares.
Has been involved in performance arts since 1998, involved in artistic experiences as interpreter and creator in Music, Circus Arts and Amateur Theatre.
Since 2004 he has been working as technical director of Teatro Sá da Bandeira in Santarém.
He also works as light designer, having collaborated with choreographers such as Sofia Silva (Tempo do Corpo – project with the contemporary dance community), Alexandra Battaglia (Diáspora), Conceição Noronha (A Gaveta de Baixo), Directors such as Sofia Vieira (Pássaro da Alma, among others), Pedro Barreiro (Porque o destino nos segue como um louco com uma navalha no bolso), Carlos Oliveira (Várias produções), Paulo Cruz (A Confissão, A Gordura), Gomes Vidal (Os assassinos) and Musicians such as Joaquim Lourenço (Ary o poeta das Canções), Tereza Azoia (Fado).
He founded the Aqui Há Gato Theatre Company (2011) where he still works and collaborated as technical director and lighting director in cultural structures such as Real Pelágio, Centro Dramático Bernardo Santareno, Influx Dance Company, FITIJ- Festival Internacional de Teatro para Infância e Juventude.
He worked as lighting technician with TeatroMosca in “O som e a Fúria”, with Almada Dance Company – Quinzena da Dança, in the Alkantara Festival (Lisbon), with the Teatro Nacional S. João production (Porto) “Merchant of Venice”, among other projects. In Terceira Pessoa he designed and operated lighting in the “First Childhood: Fables” performance (2015).
